Geez, is Bridget not one of the most gorgeous pregnant people you've ever seen? She absolutely slayed her maternity session last month. This is their first baby, and I know they are just so excited! Pregnancy is such an important and fleeting time, so I love it when my clients choose to capture this special season of life. I know a lot of people don't enjoy being pregnant, but it's still a great idea to get a maternity session done.
Bridget originally reached out for a maternity session and we were torn between doing them at the Dallas Arboretum or Erwin Park. Obviously, Erwin Park won! I love Erwin year round, but Spring and Fall are definitely the prettiest times of year there. Everything is just so lush and green! The only hiccup we experienced was that my usual favorite spot was still really dead after the crazy freeze we had in February. So we decided to shoot by this tree and wow, am I so glad we did! I really think they turned out even better than they would have if we had gone with our original plan.
I really like this particular spot for maternity and family photography because it is so versatile and you can get several different looks all within the same session. I usually start under the tree while the sun is still pretty high and the lighting is still a little bit harsh. Then, we go across the street for a few quick photos in the more open field. I usually finish up the session on the other side of the tree right as the sun sets, and it makes for gorgeous, warm and light-filled images!
Like I said, Bridget was basically a natural in front of the camera, but I still made sure to give lots of direction and prompts. I try to make sessions as seamless and easy as possible for everyone, even someone who might be totally uncomfortable in front of the camera. You will catch me making lots of jokes, saying ridiculously silly things to your kids, and making crazy noises to get your sweet baby's attention.
This maternity photography session is definitely one for the books, and it will be one of my favorites for a long time to come. Check out just a few of my personal favorite shots from their gallery below. Their little girl should be here any day now, and I just know the Browns are going to be the best parents!
